We invest in our local communities.

At UMCU, our philosophy is people helping people. In addition to providing financial services, we donate to worthy causes and provide educational programs and other types of outreach in order to make the communities we service even stronger. Here are some examples of our most recent initiatives:

UMCU ARTS ADVENTURES

The University of Michigan Credit Union endowed the UMCU Arts Adventures Program with a $1.5 million gift to the University Musical Society (UMS) and the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) to provide thousands of Southeast Michigan community members and U-M students and faculty with extraordinary access to art. In 2017, this program provided 312 free tickets and more than $2,700 in bus grants to K-12 students from eight underserved schools in Ann Arbor, East Detroit, Southfield, Southgate and Ypsilanti. These students would not have been able to visit U-M’s campus for a UMS school day performance otherwise. Learn more about UMCU Arts Adventures here

WOLVERINE PATHWAYS

In 2017, UMCU partnered with the University of Michigan to help implement a new financial education curriculum for U-M Wolverine Pathways, a free, year-round program that partners with the families, schools and communities of Detroit, Southfield and Ypsilanti. Wolverine Pathways provides learning experiences that can help students succeed in school, college and future careers. Learn more about Wolverine Pathways here.
